  Trying To Leave - Im Going Crazy

  this is my first post.

  i really feel i need to leave the jw's rather than go along pretending everything is perfect etc.

  no friends, me at work.

  5 publishers in my father's congregation have just been put in rest homes.

  my father was telling me the other day that 5 publishers have recently been put in rest home care.

  interesting in a cong of about 80-100 publishers.

  Respectfully.... what's wrong with family? These times when a loved-one needs help can be the most rewarding for a carer.

  
  

  oh--and the rest of his family--all living within a mile of him--never cared for him----or even visited him.

  why ?

  because they are all jehovahs witnesses !

  sounds good--in theory. my dad lived with me beforehand--but after a month in hospital with heart failure--the specialsts felt it would be more than i could cope with---and he need professional trained carers--which he got--and lived a full life for the next 3 years.

  i experienced the above. my jw dad went into a home 3 years ago--which meant a change of congregation. an elder-friend of his visited a few times to start with. then a couple of elders--who knew him well--from the new cong came a few times. plus an elderly sister who lived nearby and knew him 40 years ago. all visits stopped within a year. i think he was still a believer till he slipped into a coma and died a week later.

  Why not try to engage the cart attendant in conversation. A simple question...such as "would you say your open minded about your religion?" See how the react...and take it from there.

  my first painting after my cataract oeration

  have only just been able to paint again after a cataract operation in september.

  i had complications which meant my short sight has been compromised but following some surgery the fluid buildup seems to have cleared and i have started painting again.

  this is a larger rendition of an earlier piece, such a relief to be ble to see the paper again..

  What's a word that describes the way Witnesses behave as a group?

  i can't recall the word that describes a group that keeps to itself like the witnesses do.

  i thought it was "insular" but i don't think that's the one i'm looking for after reading the definition.

  i remember an elder using the word "clannish" and that has the proper definition but it reminds me of a group of elves.

  What authority have the GB got left to them?

  ( jw governing body members are invited to respond) .

  however professional and glossy their pr makeover is, as seen on jw tv and the jw org logo... the bottom line is that 19th century religious adventist claims are no longer sexy..

  to outsiders the jw org now has all the allure of a donkey wearing lipstick..

  Get over yourselves. The org is going nowhere except into the future. The momentum they have established will easily weather another 100 years of storms thrown their way.

  
  

  hmmm--i'm not so sure about that. their silly attempts to modernise just turn any half intelligent person right off. so i expect to see a lot more dubs having 2nd thoughts and quietly fading away. that will then gather momentum.
